On Your Behalf is a site-responsive installation composed of fresh flowers installed directly on the wall. The work allows the material to guide its form. Because the flowers begin to wilt, shift, and decay from the moment they are placed, the artwork exists in a state of continual transformation revealing a condition of transition and impermanence. The work stands in for gestures, words, or presences that arrive belatedly or disappear too soon. Their slow transformation becomes visible as the shifting conditions of connection, memory, and loss unfold, as they dry, fall, and change.
This work extends the long-term project Asynchronous, an art book developed over the time and shaped by different media and life events.
